Dusty Masala Chai Whole Spice Black Tea Blend

A chai built the way we like to drink it.

Dusty Chai starts with organic black tea and whole spices, milled in small batches for a bold cup with texture, warmth, and enough body to stand up to milk. Designed for steeping like tea, but equally at home prepared traditionally.

Expect notes of: Warm cinnamon • ginger heat • bright spice • malted black tea

Our favorite preparation: Steep → honey → frothed milk → finish with a touch of cayenne.

Available in: 5.3 oz (150 g)

Makes approximately 10–15 mugs depending on brew strength.

Preparation methods:

THE DUSTY METHOD

  • 2–3 Tbsp (14–16 g) • 12 oz water • 205°F

  • Steep 7 minutes and strain.

  • Stir in honey.

  • Add a pinch of cayenne.

  • Finish with frothed soy milk.

  • Traditional Method

  • 2–3 Tbsp (14–16 g)

  • 8 oz water + 4 oz milk

  • Simmer 5–7 minutes • Strain • Sweeten

Traditional Method Slow brewed. Richer body. Deeper spice.

Traditional chai draws more flavor from the tea and spices by simmering them directly with milk. The result is a fuller cup with softer texture, deeper spice notes, and a more classic chai experience.

How we make it:

  • Add 2–3 Tbsp (14–16 g) Dusty Chai to a small saucepan

  • Add 8 oz water and bring to a gentle simmer

  • Simmer 3–4 minutes to begin opening the tea and spices

  • Add 4 oz milk (soy milk works beautifully)

  • Continue simmering 2–3 minutes—avoid a hard boil

  • Remove from heat and let rest 1 minute

  • Strain into your mug

  • Stir in honey to taste

Optional: Add a small pinch of cayenne after sweetening and just before topping with extra frothed milk.

A few notes: • Keep the simmer gentle—boiling can flatten spice and create bitterness • Cover partially if aroma escapes too quickly • Slightly longer extraction increases spice and body • Honey after brewing preserves more floral sweetness • Frothing a final splash of milk adds texture and lets the spice aromas linger

Expect a richer cup, deeper spice extraction, and a more traditional café-style finish.
